A Week of Good News

I've been writing professionally for almost five years, and I've noticed that news - both good and bad - often comes in waves.

This week was one of those weeks where the news flooded in, and most of it was good!

I receive
d a contract in the mail, which might be nothing more than housekeeping to some writers, but to me it's always a thrill to see my editor or publisher's signature on the same page as my own.

Then a real surprise! Lust at First Bite, the erotic vampire anthology with my story "Understudy," has been picked up for a German edition! I received the unexpected letter from the publisher (Ebury Press - formally Black Lace) and was wonderfully pleased. I don't have a clue if the book will generate enough sales to actually put Euros in my pocket, but I love that it is being translated into German by Verlagsgruppe Lubbe and potentially thousands of new readers will see my story. “Understudy” was one of my first short story sales and I am delighted that it will find a new audience.

And more big news from across the pond!  My story "Calendar Girl" which originally appeared in Peep Show was selected by Maxim Jakubowski to appear in the Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica 2010. I was ecstatic when I read the email and haven’t stopped smiling yet. I've been trying to crack the Mammoth nut for a couple years, and finally, I did it with one of my very favorite stories!

So, that is the week in review. I hope to have more news soon about my horror novella Springs  and a new science fiction novel called Man’s World. Stay tuned!
